What’s the Difference?

Compared to Traditional Wax , the strategy for removing the hair with sugar is a bit different. When Sugaring, we will apply the Sugar in the opposite direction of hair growth, but then removing the hair back in the same direction of the growth. This ensures that each strip of sugar effectively removes the hair follicles and damages the hair papillae.

DNH Technique

1. Manually Exfoliate 2 Days Prior to Sugaring - This removes the excess dead skin, allowing your sugar to pick up majority hair and slows down the change in consistency of the sugar. From golden and thick to a peanut butter like color and texture.

2. Analyze Your Hair - Because Sugar Paste is applied in the opposite direction of hair growth, you must be familiar with the direction of which your hair grows. This will save you time and sugar paste. Usually in the underarm & bikini area, there is more than one direction.

3. Sugars is Cooler Temp Rooms - Majority of the time, sugar relies on our own body temperature to warm up. But when we remove our hair, our body temperature rises. Sugaring in cooler rooms can prevent sweating, runny sugar, sugar that doesn’t stick or having to use strips.

4. Clean & Dry Skin Only
- Sugar Paste is water soluble meaning that if your skin is moist, the sugar will not stick. Make sure you sugar after cleansing your body and applying your Lavender Prepping Powder.

5. Pull the Hair back and Keep Molding - This means that you should be making sure each and every hair go back in the opposite direction. Use your tool to grab the hairs and pull them back. The more you mold the less you’ll have to go back over the same area.

6. Hold Tight & Get the Angle Right - When removing the sugar , you must stretch the skin and hold the skin taut with one hand. With the other hand, flick the sugar in a 45 degree angle. NEVER WITH AN UPWARD MOTION. Incorrect removal can lead to further redness and bruising.

7. Practice - Take your time in smaller sections and make sure you feel confident with every flick. It’s best to practice on your arms first.

  • Step #1

Accumulate a sizable amount of paste onto a popsicle stick, or between fingers, and apply onto skin in the opposite direction of hair growth. Work in reasonable sections.

  • Step #2

When all the hair is molded the opposite way, apply the muslin strip onto the paste and press firmly (or go straight to step 3 without muslin strips).

  • Step #3

With your other hand, hold your skin taught and flick the strip off (or flick spatula) in a 45 degree angle. Repeat these steps until desired results.

Post-Care

Right after your sugar session, wash off excess sugar and apply our Lavender Calming Gel. This gel will alleviate irritation and redness. And most importantly refine the freshly opened pores. After a Sugar Sess, your pores are very susceptible to bacteria and irritation. Try to avoid sweating, physical activity, pools or suanas.
